Project description
The project renovates an early twentieth-century apartment in Varese, characterised by high-quality original materials and finishes. The intervention is deliberately restrained, preserving as much of the existing fabric as possible while adapting the layout to contemporary domestic needs.
A second bathroom has been introduced, while the kitchen has been reorganised around a central niche that integrates the principal functions and gives the room a clearer architectural structure. One of the original bedrooms has been removed to create a generous living and dining area, conceived as the new centre of the home.
Rather than transforming the apartment through major formal gestures, the project works through a series of precise adjustments. New elements are carefully inserted alongside the existing finishes, maintaining the character and atmosphere of the historic interior while creating larger, brighter and more fluid living spaces.
