Project description
The project, located in the Marché Saint-Germain in Paris, foresees the transformation of a unit within the covered hall into an Italian bistrot operating throughout the day. The intervention adapts to the rhythms of the market: in the morning offering coffee and gelato, at midday light lunches with sandwiches and fresh dishes, and in the evening—once the market is closed—becoming a street-facing night venue thanks to a retractable awning opening directly onto the boulevard.
The space is articulated in a sequence of freestanding blocks functioning as counters, display stands and convivial tables. These volumes, conceived as stalls within the larger market, create a fragmented landscape of encounters where each block presents a selection of Italian products, reinforcing the idea of a ‘market within the market’.
