Project description
The project, located in central Marseille, converts an existing two-hall venue into the new outpost of a renowned Italian fine-dining restaurant with its main headquarters in Paris. Conceived by the chef around the idea of cucina a vista, the intervention redefines the spatial hierarchy by placing an open kitchen at the heart of the layout.
The main dining hall, overlooking the street, is transformed through a large counter that extends into a monumental communal table, encouraging shared meals and convivial encounters between guests. The existing metal pillar-and-beam structure is reinterpreted as a decorative element and support for a bespoke lighting system, underscoring the raw character of the space while contrasting with refined materials.
The smaller, darker hall behind, separated by two arches, becomes an intimate caveau: a wine cellar and private room designed for tastings and exclusive gatherings. Marble tops and tables provide a tactile richness and luminous quality, standing in deliberate contrast with the metallic elements of the industrial kitchen, creating a balanced dialogue between elegance and authenticity that embodies the spirit of Italian hospitality.
