Project description
The project proposes two adjoining single-family houses on a 2,129 m² sloping site in Lema-Bedigliora. Although combined within a single volume, the two units remain fully independent. The building develops over a semi-underground level and two floors above ground, following the natural north-south slope and opening towards the landscape to the south.
A covered external passage forms the main distributive element of the project. Conceived not only as an entrance but also as a shared panoramic terrace, it gives access to both houses and connects directly to the semi-underground level through a central staircase. Inside, each unit is organised around a longitudinal service spine containing stairs, bathrooms, storage and technical shafts, leaving the main living areas open and flexible. The lower floor accommodates cellars, technical rooms and an independent studio for each house; the ground floor contains the living spaces, while the bedrooms are located above.
The two houses are distinguished through their roofs and façade composition while maintaining a unified architectural language. Recessed terraces and openings of different sizes create depth across the elevations. The façades are finished in coarse mineral render, with smooth frames formed around the windows using the same material. Outdoor areas are predominantly pedestrian and landscaped, with exposed concrete retaining walls, washed-concrete paving and covered parking positioned separately along the road.
