Project description
The project renovates an early 1960s single-family house, built in exposed BKS brick and surrounded by a private garden. The regularity of the original structure allowed the intervention to remain deliberately limited, preserving the existing spatial organisation while adapting it to contemporary domestic needs.
The main structural alteration involved removing a wall to create a larger kitchen, while the bathrooms were redesigned with more regular geometries. The unusually shaped staircase was visually rationalised through a new plasterboard enclosure, creating a clearer and more coherent element within the house.
The renovation focused primarily on materials, light and atmosphere. New parquet flooring extends throughout the interiors, while the bathrooms have been completely renewed. The original timber ceiling boards were preserved and whitewashed to increase brightness without erasing the character of the existing construction. Beige wall tones create a calm and continuous background, complemented by carefully placed chromatic accents.
